Artist's Description
Preserved steam locomotive 70013 Oliver Cromwell storms past the signal box at Quorn and Woodhouse on the Great Central heritage line in Leicestershire, England.
70013 achieved fame when it became officially the last steam locomotive to be overhauled by British Railways following the end of steam traction, and subsequently became one of the four locomotives to take part in hauling the last mainline passenger train to use steam power on Britain's railways.
This final steam passenger service ran on 11th August 1968, and the following day a ban was placed on any steam running on British railways.
